Kimberly Elise

Our hair-extension wearing star today is award-winning actress Kimberly Elise, who has starred in numerous films and TV series since making her debut in Set It Off in 1996. Her big break came the next year when she was cast in the television movie The Ditchdigger's Daughters, for which she won an award as Best Supporting Actress. In 2004, she appeared in Woman Thou Art Loosed portraying Michelle, an abused young woman who finally got the help she needed behind bars, and has also appeared in John Q, The Manchurian Candidate and Diary of a Mad Black Woman, for which she won a NAACP Image Award. Her most recent film role was in Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls as the battered wife Crystal.

Stacey Dash

Today's featured hair extension-wearing actress is New York-born Stacey Dash. After appearances in TV shows including the Cosby Show and Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Stacey made her movie debut in the Richard Pryor comedy Moving in 1988. He big movie break came in Clueless in 1995 in which she played high school student Dionne Marie Davenport even though she was 28 at the time. Later she appeared in View From The Top, Gang of Roses and Getting Played and, more recently, I Could Never Be Your Woman, Nora's Hair Salon II and American Primitive.
Stacey has appeared in a music video by Kanye West, label mate of her cousin Damon Dash, and in 2006, aged 40, she posed nude in Playboy - the same year that she launched her own lingerie line Letters of Marque.

Vivica A Fox

Another well known African-American actress who wears hair extensions is Vivica A Fox, who has enjoyed great success in movies and TV over the last 20 years.  She is best known for her roles in the films Independence Day, Set It Off, Soul Food, Why Do Fools Fall in Love and Kill Bill: Vol 1.
Vivica started acting professionally in California, first on soap operas such as Generations, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless. Another early role saw her as Patti LaBelle's fashion designer daughter, Charisse Chamberlain, on the NBC TV series Out All Night. She also appeared as Jazz's sister on the hit show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and on Beverly Hills, 90210. She got her big break in film in two 1996 movies, Independence Day, and Set It Off.
From 2004 to 2006 she starred in and co-produced the drama series, Missing and has appeared in numerous other TV series. In 2008, she filmed Shark City and also hosted her own VH1 reality series entitled Glam God.

Cicely Tyson

It's not just young black women who use hair extensions on a regular basis. American actress Cicely Tyson is 77, with a career that goes back to the late 1950s, but she continues to look great, thanks in part to her extensions. Her film credits include Sounder, Fried Green Tomatoes, Hoodlum, Diary of a Mad Black Woman and, most recently, Why Did I Get Married Too. She has also appeared in literally dozens of US television series.
Born in Harlem, her parents came from Nevis in the Caribbean.  She married legendary jazz trumpeter Miles Davis in 1981 in a ceremony at the home of actor Bill Cosby.  Cicely was discovered by a photographer for Ebony magazine and became a fashion model, appearing in her first uncredited film role in 1957 before moving on her long string of TV and film appearances.

Jada Pinkett Smith

Our hair extensions wearing star today is Jada Pinkett Smith - actress, businesswoman, singer and wife of Will Smith. She began her acting career in the early 90s and starred in A Different World, produced by Bill Cosby, and opposite Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor. She also starred in dramatic films such as Menace II Society and Ali, in two of the Matrix films, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, and voiced Madagascar and Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa.
Jada married Will Smith in 1997 and they have two children. She is woman of many parts. In 2007 she helped create the metal rock band Wicked Wisdom, for which she is a singer and songwriter. She also set up her own music company and fashion line, created the US TV series All Of Us with her husband, and wrote a childrens' book. She also invested in Carols' Daughter, a line of beauty products created by Lisa Price, and became a spokesperson for the beauty line.

Meagan has 'Good Hair'

Featured artist today is actress Meagan Good, another black Goddess who just loves her hair extensions. Born in California, Meagan is of mixed descent, with grandparents who were Jewish/African, Cherokee native American. Puerto Rican/African American and Barbadian. She started her acting career at the age of about four and appeared in a number of US TV shows and movies in her teens.
